Long answer, if insurance was directed at statistical chance as a gamble rather than expected care the cost would be driven down simply because healthcare providers wouldn't mark costs up to negotiate with insurance but instead a healthy individuals pays several hundred a month for what should be 15$ worth of shots once a year and maybe 80 worth of prescriptions. And if we don't have insurance those shots cost 300 and the prescriptions cost 600.”
