Israeli Whistleblowers Detail Horror of Palestinian Jail

At a Sde Teiman desert camp, which holds Palestinians detained during Israel’s invasion of Gaza, an Israeli working at the facility snapped two photographs of a scene that he says continues to haunt him.

Rows of men in gray tracksuits are seen sitting on paper-thin mattresses, ringfenced by barbed wire. All appear blindfolded, their heads hanging heavy under the glare of floodlights.

A putrid stench filled the air and the room hummed with the men’s murmurs, the Israeli who was at the facility told CNN. Forbidden from speaking to each other, the detainees mumbled to themselves.

 @WidgeonLeahSocialistfrom Texas commented…1wk1W

 @Freedom76 from South Carolina disagreed…1wk1W

Excuse us white Christian male Europeans for building civilisation, abolishing worldwide slavery, saving the world from Adolf Hitler, creating the heritage of constitutional government and personal liberty, and using the free markets to lift billions out of poverty. We white Christian males built the world. And this is the thanks we get. Appreciate your gratitude.

 @EmpathicTheRightForward from Colorado commented…1wk1W

The reason Israeli whistleblowers are leaking information to CNN about Israeli torture and war crimes within their detention facilities and army is because the government of Israel doesn't care.

 @JudiciaryJasmineSocialistfrom California agreed…1wk1W

In a Western military, if a whistleblower comes forward with an accusation of illegal activities, the whistleblower is protected and the abuse is investigated. In Israel, almost no abuses against non-Israeli Jews are investigated. So now they have to go anonymously to CNN.

 @EmpathicTheRightForward from Colorado agreed…1wk1W

This falls Squarely on Netanyahoos shoulders & it's now VERY APPARENT HIS GOAL IS TO DESTROY EVERY REMNANT OF PALESTINIAN

SOCIETY IN ISRAEL!

 @EqualityDennyWorking Family from Maryland commented…1wk1W

Kinda nuts how Israel treats these people. If any people on earth could be expected to treat an ethnic minority within their borders well I would have guessed it would be the Israelis, given their experience in Europe. I think they may have drawn the wrong conclusions!

Russia Bans Social Media Network Rumble

‘Russia has officially blocked Rumble because we refused to comply with their censorship demands.

Ironically, YouTube is still operating in Russia, and everyone needs to ask what Russian demands Google and YouTube are complying with?’

 @Unanim0usOrangeGreen from Illinois commented…1wk1W

Russia banning Rumble is a big cognitive-dissonance event for certain "Dissident Influencers" who've become actual Russian stooges lately. They love to peacock as huge Free Speech defenders, while oddly ignoring or even justifying the extreme Censorship Crackdown imposed by Putin

 @RelishStanAmerican Solidarityfrom Maine agreed…1wk1W

Roskomnadzor just complains to random ISPs about random websites (including to people I've known), and sends Russian language letters making demands to people who don't speak Russian that operate english language websites. I feel like the notices they send are automated. (not saying it is in rumble's case) It's quite bizarre.

To my knowledge, YouTube isn't blocked in Russia and I believe all the anti-Russia content is still on there.

Georgia Election Board Finds that 3K Ballots Were Scanned In Twice During 2020 Election

The State Election Board reprimanded Fulton County and ordered an independent election monitor Tuesday, finding that the county likely scanned over 3,000 ballots twice during the recount of the 2020 presidential election.

The decision, on a 2-1 vote, resolves one of the last remaining investigations of the 2020 election, drawing jeers from a crowd of Republican voters who wanted more severe punishment against the Democratic county.

The SEB ruled 2-1 Tuesday that Fulton County must have an independent election monitor to oversee its elections after it found more than 3,000 ballots were scanned…  Read more

 @FranchiseLlamaRepublicanfrom New Jersey commented…1wk1W

3,000 isn't even close to the number of ballots scanned twice. There were 4480 double scanned ballots. And they didn't mention the 5,812 missing ballots.

 @RatifiedHoopoePatriotfrom Michigan commented…1wk1W

Now, do Michigan; it was just as bad or worse. No one can say it was the most secure election in all of history, which was a ridiculous thing to say.

Who ordered the counting to stop in 5 swing states at the same time?

 @ExuberantP0liticRepublican from Florida commented…1wk1W

“Does the investigation confirm that there are missing ballot images?”

“Yes.”

Case closed. No cover up operation can conceal the fact that Fulton County did not have the votes it claimed it had. The recount could not replicate the original results.

 @PartisanPolarMadisonLibertarian from Ohio commented…1wk1W

Why isn't the board under investigation itself? Derelict of duty comes to mind. Corruption can not keep happening in America. Americans will never trust another election again if we don't do something over the fraud of 2020.

I remember a time when stealing elections was treasonous.

Can you imagine if Trump had tried to pull of a steal? They would have his head. Democrats nothing. Zip. Nada.

IRS urged to probe tax-exempt groups supporting anti-Israel protests

Senate Republicans demanded on Thursday evening an investigation into the tax-exempt status of several organizations that have supported various anti-Israel and antisemitic protests at universities across the country.

Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, called on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Danny Werfel in a letter to probe the Americans for Justice in Palestine Educational Foundation (AJP), the Tides Foundation and the Westchester Peace Action Committee Foundation (WESPAC) over their support for anti-Israel demonstrations at dozens of universities.

When the truckers in Canada dared to protest a vaccine mandate, the Canadian government took steps to seize bank accounts and cancel insurance policies needed for these truckers to earn a living. Then Trudeau enacted their Emergencies Act to empower his government to go even further. What has happened in the West. $95 Billion to fund foreign wars, but no money for our own borders. Millions about to lose their internet here, but no action to renew the ACP credit so many depend on. Now we are seeing calls to remove the tax exempt status of groups that have long had it? Arresting the lawbreakers, when and if they break the law, not good enough? This has to stop or that cliff that's coming up fast will be the last thing we see.

Palestine Joins UN, Igniting Global Debate

The U.N. General Assembly voted by a wide margin on Friday to grant new “rights and privileges” to Palestine and called on the Security Council to reconsider Palestine’s request to become the 194th member of the United Nations.

The 193-member world body approved the Arab and Palestinian-sponsored resolution by a vote of 143-9 with 25 abstentions. The United States voted against the resolution, along with Israel, Argentina, Czechia, Hungary, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau and Papua New Guinea.

The vote reflected the wide global support for full membership of Palestine in the United…  Read more

That's wonderful news tbh, a step closer to peace hopefully

Pleasantly surprised Canada voted in favor, though. We're copying the US so much recently i'd expect abstention or a flat out no.

 @WelfareMadisonDemocrat from Kentucky disagreed…1wk1W

not entirely accurate (unfortunately) they got voted to be a non-member STATE rather than entity; still a step in the right direction, but vastly different from being an entire member (which the US has promised to veto if ever came to that - unfortunately)

 @InnocentSalamiVeteranfrom Virginia commented…1wk1W

Real question. Will this have any impact on anything? Like I’ve heard so much UN stuff but nothing actually happens. Is this an actual move?

 @EmptyF3deralistLibertarianfrom Alaska agreed…1wk1W

Nah, it only matters if Palestine becomes a full UN member state. Which it can’t unless it gets a unanimous vote from the security council. Spoiler, the US will veto

 @EnragedImpalaSocialist from Minnesota commented…1wk1W

For clarity, this wasn't a vote for it to become a full member. It was an initiative to grant Palestine the ability to bring up topics not related to Palestine. It also recommends the vote go to the council in order for it to become a full Member State.

 @HopefulD3legateGreen from New Hampshire commented…1wk1W

Before anyone talks about rewarding Hamas let me tell you this, Palestinians have a right to a state, they're entitled to it and the fact that it took violence for people to come to that realization is the real scandal.

Biden set to impose tariffs on China electric vehicles

U.S. President Joe Biden is set to announce new China tariffs as soon as next week targeting strategic sectors including electric vehicles, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The full announcement, which could take place as soon as Tuesday, is expected to largely maintain existing levies, according to one of the people. An announcement could also be pushed back, the person said.

Biden, a Democrat seeking re-election in November, is looking to contrast his approach with that of Republican candidate Donald Trump, who has proposed across-the-board tariffs that White House officials see as too blunt and prone to spark inflation.

Biden has said he does not want a trade war with China even as he has said the countries have entered a new paradigm of competition.

 @ThrilledRatGreen from Connecticut commented…1wk1W

Absent from the discussion between EVs and ICE vehicles is the proliferation of American made pick up trucks the size of battle tanks.

Every new pick up is now 4 door, has wheels as large as a first grader and is so tall that most people under 5 feet struggle to get into them.

It's both a rural and urban American fetish (drive 10 minutes across any Canadian border and it's back to 2010). It's also quite frankly puzzling considering the volatility of the price of gas and overall concerns about the environment.

Some of us are old enough to remember when the Japanese auto industry was kicking the US Big 3 around, with affordable high quality. US industry was slow because it had stopped producing what people wanted and needed, instead putting financial engineering, and calcified political and union interests ahead.

No doubt conservatives will cry out for protectionist policies to “punish” China, rather than do something positively constructive for US capabilities to adopt EVs and other non- fossil fuel based technologies. The MAGA GOP is as much a dinosaur as the US auto industry and UAW.

 @VetoPigletSocialist from Arizona agreed…1wk1W

This will continue forever. The change must be made, and delay for current profit comes at the expense of the American consumer and the American taxpayer. This is not capitalism at its best.

We should be focusing a lot more on massive expansion of public transportation infrastructure and a lot less on private vehicles.

 @DearPloverGreenfrom Maine agreed…1wk1W

Massive subsidies to public transportation, making most inter-city and regional transport free to users, makes sense.... but, of course, the fossil fuel lobby would 'veto' any such proposal.

"the status quo is unsustainable.... Long Live the Status Quo "

 @Mandat3ChileRepublican from Illinois commented…1wk1W

The big US automakers should be trembling. GM currently produces and sells a tiny EV in China called the Wuling Hongguang that sells over there for about $5000. It's not up to US quality standards as it is consumer grade and not automotive grade and necessarily does not meet US crash safety standards. If the price was tripled, that would create plenty of room to make these adjustments and still be affordable.

South China Sea Fight Heats Up Between Philippines And China

The Philippines' national security adviser called on Friday for Chinese diplomats to be expelled over an alleged leak of a phone conversation with a Filipino admiral in a significant escalation of a bitter row over the South China Sea.

China's embassy in Manila had orchestrated "repeated acts of engaging and dissemination of disinformation, misinformation and malinformation", with the objective of sowing discord, division and disunity, Eduardo Ano said in a statement.

Those actions "should not be allowed to pass unsanctioned without serious penalty", he said.

 @P0pul1stMusselDemocratfrom Kansas disagreed…1wk1W

Yes it was a stupid move by a few senators that caused the loss of Subic, but it wasn’t the sentiment of the majority of Filipinos, even the President at that time fought to keep the bases. The US Navy is still the strongest out there, but is now vulnerable to hypersonic missiles. Drones, aircraft and missiles will be the key. Clark is now host to US fighter planes.
