Largest American Union Issues Statement Supporting Pro-Palestine Protestors

United Auto Workers' Leader Shawn Fain:

"The UAW will never support the mass arrest or intimidation of those exercising their right to protest, strike, or speak out against injustice.

Our union has been calling for a ceasefire for six months. This war is wrong, and this response against students and academic workers, many of them UAW members, is wrong.

We call on the powers that be to release the students and employees who have been arrested, and if you can’t take the outcry, stop supporting this war."

In 2020 we saw mass hysteria of well educated people seeing racism in everything — chess, drinking milk, the ok hand sign, punctuality. This year in 2024 it’s the exact same if not worse with people fabricating antisemitism en masse in order to shut down criticism of Israel.

 @MurkyCaviarRepublican from Connecticut disagreed…2wks2W

When people chant, “from the river to the sea”, what is it, if not antisemitism?

That they want a one state solution and the right of return for millions of displaced people…

 @DearLeftLaneLibertarian from Georgia agreed…2wks2W

It was a clever if dirty rhetorical trick. They now go it’s the JEWISH STATE OF ISRAEL. That’s what gets brought up whenever you ask why a country with a lower inflation rate than the U.S. should get free money.

 @ResolvedQuailWorking Family from Kansas commented…2wks2W

Prove it, take back your endorsement of Biden who’s giving the green light to all these things you claim to oppose

 @BustardChuckWorking Family from Texas commented…2wks2W

Righteous, brother Shawn Fain. You have brought solidarity back to the US labor movement and are fighting to win.

Worth reconsidering your blank check endorsement of GenocideJoe who has guaranteed not only impunity for apartheid israel, but claimed the students are 'hateful'

U.K. Deporting Immigrants To Rwanda

British authorities have started to detain migrants in preparation for them to be sent to Rwanda in the next nine to 11 weeks, the government said on Wednesday, laying the groundwork for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's flagship immigration policy.

A law to pave the way for sending asylum seekers to Rwanda if they arrived in Britain without permission was approved by parliament in April, and Sunak wants the first flights to take off in July.

More than 7,500 migrants have arrived in England on small boats from France so far this year, and the government says the policy will deter people from…  Read more

How would you feel if your family had to be sent to another country without your consent because of where you were born?

 @9M2373W from Nebraska answered…2wks2W

I would be outraged, US and European immigration laws are much too strong, America is known for being the mixing pot of ethnicities, but they take YEARS to let them become citizens.

 @9M22YB7answered…2wks2W

It depends. I may feel strongly about it if my family had done nothing wrong and was contributing to that country's society.

 @9M22W2GRepublican from North Carolina answered…2wks2W

I ain't leaving the U.S. and all of these people coming in illegally should be sent back to there homes they don't deserve to be here and using our tax money to live a care free life

How would your perspective change if you or someone close to you were facing deportation under similar circumstances?

 @9LZZZ9L from Texas answered…2wks2W

it wouldn’t change cause i support immigration and people going into a different country looking for a better life

So not really a deterrent then. If you don't get to stay in England don't worry because you still get £3k and a five year package to live elsewhere. Sounds more like a migrant magnet.

New York City Mayor Suggests College Protests Have An ‘International Connection.’

Eric Adams suggested on MSNBC the Columbia protests may have an "international" connection: "I don't know if they're international, I think we need to look into that as well, but there's an attempt to radicalize young people in this country."

He didn't say what he's basing this on.

On CBS, Adams again declines to identify the "outside" individuals or groups he says participated in the Columbia protests. He does say: "It's not singular, it's plural, several organizations and groups, I want to be clear on that, we did not take this action lightly."

 @HopefulPr0porti0nalGreen from Michigan commented…2wks2W

Imagine if pro-Palestine protestors physically assaulted Jewish students in the same exact way that pro-Israel protestors attacked the students at UCLA last night? The national guard and every cop in California would come down on them. They'd be called terrorists by everyone in media and peace protests all across the country would be shut down. And every objective person knows this is true.

So, will LA do anything about the violent thugs who attacked those students last night or is their lawlessness in America now, where if you are on Israel's side, you can just commit violence on anyone you like?

China Crosses Biden's Red Line On Ukraine

President Biden warned China two years ago not to provide “material support” for Russia’s war in Ukraine. On Friday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken conceded that Xi Jinping ignored that warning. China, Mr. Blinken said, was “overwhelmingly the No. 1 supplier” of Russia’s military industrial base, with the “material effect” of having fundamentally changed the course of the war. Whatever Mr. Biden chooses to do next will be momentous for global security and stability.

Mr. Biden can either enforce his red line through sanctions or other means,…  Read more

If you cannot scare the Taliban, Syria or Iran, you are certainly not going to frighten Xi or Putin. Both consider the U.S. and Europe to be Paper Tigers who do little more than talk.

 @L1b3rtyMonkeyPatriotfrom New Jersey disagreed…2wks2W

Well, trying to scare the alliance between the biggest country and the most populous country in the world isn’t going to work.

 @LeftLanePaisleyPatriot from Michigan commented…2wks2W

Puppets don't have the brains to know what a red line is. Xi knows he is dealing with a puppet and can do anything he wants.

 @Pe0plesPartyMadelineForward from Massachusetts disagreed…2wks2W

Xi is only talking to Blinken because he knows it’s important to Biden’s reelection.

The announced “Friends without Limits” was a geopolitical test which Biden and Blinken failed miserably. China was gauging the reaction - knowing how Trump would have immediately said “want to bet?” as he did with China and Iranian oil. With only silence in response from Biden, Russia went forward knowing it could rely on China backstopping the entire Russian economy.

How do you feel knowing countries can influence war outcomes by supporting one side, and what should be done about it?

 @9M24S73Democrat from Connecticut answered…2wks2W

There's not much to do about it. This is how world politics has worked as long as there has been politics.

 @9M24LVK from Utah answered…2wks2W

It seems fairly obvious that powerful countries can determine the outcome of a war so they should just choose the side they support

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2wks2W

Considering past consequences, how important is it for nations to stand firm on their warnings to others, and what should be the limit of compromise?

 @9M28RKT  from North Carolina answered…2wks2W

If China wants to test the US they can go ahead. While I think war is entirely unnecessary and that our leaders should be able to come to agreements like the civilized adults we elected them to be, if China thinks they can disrespect the US's clear boundaries then they better think again, we have the highest funded and the best military in the world, not to mention we are part of the NATO alliance and China isn't so if we go to war with China they are going to war against all of the countries in NATO.

Arizona Senate Will Vote On Abortion Ban Appeal

The Arizona Senate is expected to vote on Wednesday on a measure to repeal the state's 1864 ban on abortion, which could go into effect within weeks if not struck down.

The Arizona House last week passed the measure after a handful of Republicans broke party ranks and voted with Democrats to send it to the Senate. The bill appears to have enough support to pass the upper chamber, even with Republicans holding a slim 16-14 majority.

If passed, the measure could immediately be sent to Governor Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, who has said she will sign it.

If the decision on abortion rights were solely up to you, how would you balance individual freedom with ethical concerns?

 @9M276CV from New York answered…2wks2W

I think to have rights and to make reasonable choices for your own benefits is obviously a better alternative than taking away peoples opportunities and basic human rights due to insufficient knowledge, money, materials, health and more being a conflict between them and the choice of having a child.

 @9M27PP3Republican from Florida disagreed…2wks2W

Certainly, ensuring that individuals have the rights and resources to make informed choices about their lives, including the decision to have children, is essential for promoting autonomy and well-being. Denying people the opportunity to exercise their reproductive rights due to factors like lack of knowledge, financial means, access to healthcare, or other resources can result in profound injustices and limit individuals' ability to lead fulfilling lives.

 @9M26PHB from Florida answered…2wks2W

I would give them both an equal amount of attention and effort to see how it will all play out in the end.

 @9M26GT6answered…2wks2W

you could balance between the personal freedom to decide what is right and societal influence.

 @9M26F4M from North Carolina answered…2wks2W

I would say if the parents feel like they won't be able to take care of the child and they want to have an abortion than they should for the child safety.

 @9M29ZFFConstitution from Washington disagreed…2wks2W

"For child safety" is the most ridiculously asinine response as a reason to justify killing the child. Only a living brain donor could call that logical.

In your opinion, should states have the power to control access to medical treatments, or should there be a nationwide standard?

 @9M26GT6answered…2wks2W

 @9M26C4Q from Illinois answered…2wks2W

I think it could be argued that Abortion is not even a medical treatment so this question doesn't apply.

 @9M2G3KL  from Texas disagreed…2wks2W

States should not have the power to control access to medical treatments because states can limit medical treatments.

 @9M2D8SQ from Utah disagreed…2wks2W

The fact that abortion is most successfully done in a medical facility means that it should be co soldered a medical treatment.
