I struggle to come up with one single solitary thing the CDC and Fauci did that had a positive effect on outcomes at the societal level during COVID.

Sweden rejected the recommendations that Fauci and Collins made and Sweden had a far lower rate of COVID deaths than the US did.

Positive recommendations. Even if the 6-foot rule isn’t necessarily the best way, it is a way, and a decent enough benchmark to get the point across. I’d prefer they explain the nuance as much as possible, but I have few qualms if they said that a random distance rule just “appeared.”
