This is indeed the ultimate goal. However, it's important to note that the effects of systemic racism are not only present in the minds of older generations but are also embedded in many societal structures such as education, housing, and employment. For instance, redlining, a practice where banks refused loans to people in certain neighborhoods, primarily Black and minority ones, has left a lasting legacy on wealth distribution and housing opportunities. While these explicit practices no longer exist, their impact is still felt today. By teaching critical race theory, we're not encouraging a mindset based on race, but rather providing the tools to understand and dismantle these systemic issues. Do you think there could be a balance between teaching the history and impacts of systemic racism while also emphasizing MLK's principle of judging individuals by character?
