Using military strikes or even sending your military into a foreign country for twenty years doesn't solve the issue. Al-Qaeda can only be defeated by changing the minds of individuals and small international fire teams engaging in global operations. Vulnerable populations on the internet, angry religious fervor, and disenfranchised populations, can easily be brainwashed and encouraged to commit acts of atrocities. We need to focus on helping, not silencing, anger from political groups, encouraging religious leaders to guide future generations, and support the disenfranchised to be more vocal and involved.
