The problem with Affirmative Action is that too often minority members are recruited to create the impression of a diverse workforce, student body or other group. Also, hiring practices too often have been proven to be discriminatory regardless of the individuals being interviewed. Hiring based on merit and proven education needs to be the norm. Affirmative action, when done sincerely, is a good program, as it can offset the hiring practices mentioned above.
