Should the government require people to wear face masks in public during the COVID pandemic?

I feel like it should not because how do they expect a mask to protect us from and virus. How do they expect the mask to protect us if mosquitoes can bite us through jeans which is thicker material than our mask.

Probably because a mosquito is significantly larger than a virus..? And masks (correct ones) are specifically designed to prevent airborne particulates from passing through. Medical and scientific advancements exist for a purpose, exactly like this. Your personal beliefs and ignorance should not be held to the same validity as the health and well-being of the community.
