You believe in promoting the interests and power of ordinary people in the political decision-making process.
Populism is a political ideology that emphasizes the role of the people and often casts them against an elite or establishment. It is characterized by a strong link between a charismatic leader and a largely unified and mobilized group of followers. Populism is not tied to a specific political orientation, and can be found on both the left and right of the political spectrum. It is often associated with a call for more direct forms of democracy and a critique of political elites.
The history of populism is complex and varied, as it has taken different forms in different contexts. The…

How does the idea of 'us versus them,' often promoted by populist movements, align with your views on community and society?
It shouldn't be us vs them. Working together promotes advancement and sportsmanship
@9H7XBBXProgressive6mos6MO
I don't think we should have a us versus them mindset, we should all work together.
It’s right to go against the big people up there. They could be doing things that are messing up the people that are “below” them.
@9H9H2N26mos6MO
The view of "us versus them" I think is important to tackle career politicians who have had wealth and privilege, disillusioned to the lives of most Americans who struggle to get by.
@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
Do you think that populism improves or threatens democracy, given its emphasis on people's power and direct action?
@9HDFZ246mos6MO
Populism threatens true democracy due to having a strong opposition of two powers whom have the ability to overreach their powers.
I think populism should be eradicated along with the homosexuals and non denominational christians
@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
Why do you think populism is on the rise globally, and how does it make you feel about the future of international relations?
@9H7F6XPIndependent 6mos6MO
I don't have a strict understanding of populism, but if it's about "our country first, screw the others" that's definitely a bad thing. Not just for international relations but for ourselves. Declining first world populations cause all kinds of problems in capitalist economies. We need to keep supporting immigration and modest population growth, or else change a lot of our political and economic systems.
@9H7F4SV6mos6MO
because people like to vote for who think they can help the country
@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
How would you define the 'ordinary person' that populists claim to represent?
@9H96VCQ6mos6MO
The "ordinary person" in populism typically represents those who feel neglected by established political elites, with populists positioning themselves as advocates for their concerns.
@9H96SVDPeace and Freedom6mos6MO
An average Joe who works a normal 9-5 and has a healthy life.
the blue collar workers to the middle class whose wages are snuffed for the CEO's bonus
@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO
What does 'taking back control' of your future mean to you in your current stage of life?
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
The destruction of obscene corporate power, a turn away from capitalism, and the control of government by the people once more. It’s been 200 years, it’s time for a democratic revamp.
Not letting anyone else run it the way we don't want it to be runed.
@9J4Y494Libertarian4mos4MO
I believe that the current generation should have full control of its future.
@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
Is it possible for populism to go too far in empowering the majority, to the point of suppressing minority rights or opinions?
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
Absolutely, that’s how right-wing populism starts. It’s a democracy killer in the wrong circumstance, and generally should be reigned in.
Definitely. When your only concerned with what most people feel, you end up ignoring lots of others.
@9H7XNJ9Republican6mos6MO
I think all things are good in moderation. If they're taking the minority into account, then it's fine.
@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
Do you think populist leaders truly understand the needs of the people, or do they just use populism as a tool to gain power?
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
Most all of them use it as a tool. No one person can represent a country.
@9H84QPB6mos6MO
Nope they only see what they want and feed it to their voters
@9H84D92Republican6mos6MO
I feel it is a mixture of both of an understanding of the peoples needs, and the gain of power
@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
How do you think history will look back on this era of populism, and what part do you think you'll play in it?
@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO
Reflect on a time when you felt disconnected from political decisions; how would more direct democracy impact that feeling?
@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
How do you reconcile the desire for a strong leader with the need to maintain checks and balances in government?
A strong leader must do the right thing for the people who elected her or him. Be kind and respectful to all.
@9HS864XConstitution5mos5MO
I think that a strong leader must abide by the constitution and checks and balances that come with it so they truly represent the people and in my eyes are stronger of a leader.
@ISIDEWITH4mos4MO
How might a government ensure it is accurately representing the voice of its people?
@ISIDEWITH6mos6MO
Do you think social media helps or hinders the spread of populist ideas, and in what way has this affected you?
@9HKT6YS5mos5MO
It helps the spread of populist ideas. This has affected me because I use social media quite a lot. A lot of the times I find myself being influenced by what I see on social media.
@ISIDEWITH4mos4MO
What kind of political change makes you hopeful, and does populism play a role in that?
@ISIDEWITH4mos4MO
How do you feel about the phrase 'take our country back,' and who is the 'our' in that statement to you?
@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO
How does the concept of elitism manifest in your school or community, and what are your thoughts on challenging it?
@9HTMB9C5mos5MO
Well, socioeconomic status always gives people a superior attitude. There will always be elitism in any community, capitalist or communist.
