Learn more about Gun Control
The 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings caused several states and cities to pass strict gun control measures. In response, state lawmakers in gun friendly states in the South and West passed bills that would strengthen Stand Your Ground laws and allow weapons in most public places. In 2014, 21 states passed laws that expanded the rights of gun owners allowing them to possess firearms in churches, bars, schools and college campuses. The federal government has not passed any gun control measures since the 1994 Brady Bill and 42 states now allow the possession of assault rifles. In the U.S. two-thirds of all gun deaths are suicides and in 2010 there were 19,000 firearm suicides and 11,000 firearm homicides. See recent gun control news

Use the laws already on the books responsibly. Mental health issues and convicted felons should not be able to get a gun. I need to be able to protect myself. My family owns guns but they keep them in a locked safe and only get them out to go hunting or target practice and if they need to use it for protection, they will. So anyone who knows how to care for a gun should own a gun. 2 years ago from a Constitution in Albemarle, NC

No, there is zero evidence that increasing regulations on sales and ownership of firearms reduces the crime rates. Get tougher on violations of existing law. 2 years ago from a Constitution in Coburg, OR
I support a limited level of gun control as everyone has a right to protect themself and their families. The number of weapons of a given type should be controlled (there is no need for someone to have more than 1, if even 1, assault rifle for example).... 2 years ago from a Constitution in New York, NY
Yes, for law enforcement. Require ongoing strict background checks, psychological testing and training for those in law enforcement (and anyone else). Many should not be around a weapon. They are egotistical and get 'high' on their power and... 2 years ago from a Constitution in East Gaffney, SC
It is our God-given right to own a firearm. The federal government cannot and will not take my right to own a gun. 2 years ago from a Constitution in New York, NY
I believe the problem is bigger than that. Unfortunately people are not taking personal responsibility for their things and their actions. I don't mind people having guns for protection and sport, however I believe a criminal, medical/physical... 2 years ago from a Constitution in Gilbert, AZ
