Police said one person died and 22 people suffered gunshot wounds in a shooting Wednesday afternoon just after the Chiefs parade and rally ended at Union Station.
Children’s Mercy Hospital confirmed it was treating 12 patients, 11 of whom were children. The hospital stated that nine of those patients have gunshot wounds.
University Health Truman Medical Center officials said it was treating eight gunshot victims, two of whom are in critical condition. Four other people were treated for non-gunshot injuries.
The Kansas City Police Department stated that three armed people were taken into custody for more investigation.
“I’m angry at what happened today. The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment,” police chief Stacey Graves said.
St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City received one gunshot patient in critical condition and three walk-in patients with injuries that were not life-threatening, spokesperson Laurel Gifford said.
The Kansas City Police Department stated officials are working to set up a hotline for tips specifically for information related to the shooting.
The scene was declared clear and safe, as of 5:30 p.m.

Why didn't the church shooting from this weekend get this kind of attention?

Transgender radical killing Christian, move on nothing to see here

"Kansas City mayor sues to block Missouri law requiring higher police spending"
@XfactorElectionRepublican3mos3MO
Fewer police, lax enforcement, less prosecution…but another magic gun law will solve the problem
@JudiciaryRelishDemocrat3mos3MO
11 children.
11 children who went to a parade to celebrate their Super Bowl team.
11 children now being treated for gunshot wounds
When are we going to collectively realize there’s a gun problem in our country and do something sensible for our kids?
@Gr33nPartyCaroline3mos3MO
What’s your suggestion? Do away with the second amendment? Honest question. Dozens of laws were violated by the shooters. I’d suggest putting violent criminals behind bars & keeping them there. I’d wager a lot of money that the shooters in Kansas City had long rap sheets.
@ReformRoyConstitution3mos3MO
The first thing done in Ukraine after Russia invaded was pass out guns (often paid for by American taxpayer money.) You’re Jewish. Do you think Israelis attacked by Hamas on October 7th wished they had less guns?
@C1vilRightsSaltGreen3mos3MO
Other countries have criminals with long rap sheets, mental health issues, poverty, whatever. None of them have the issues we have with guns. Just say you’re cool with a lot more Americans being dead so you can have guns, instead of this horse **** where you act like there’s nothing that can be done or this is just a fact of life.
@JudiciaryRelishDemocrat3mos3MO
So you’re saying maybe the 2nd amendment only is cool if we are invaded by a foreign military? I’m down. That’d be far better than letting almost anyone get anything and causing Americans to have 2-4x homicides than other developed nations
@EuphoricGrizzlyForward3mos3MO
Yes. Do away with the 2nd amendment.
@Gr33nPartyCaroline3mos3MO
So you want to seize every gun in every law abiding citizen’s hands? And amend the constitution to repeal the second amendment? Good luck. (Also, will the QBs you train eliminate all their armed security in the meantime? Guns are bad, after all).
@L0bbyistEvaRepublican3mos3MO
Kansas City has a crime problem like every city. But instead of talking about the elephant in the room let’s take guns away from law abiding Americans.
@9JYHKPG3mos3MO
Issues that happen more locally or within our country should be considered more important unless the foreign issue threatens the country or economy.
@9JYDZ8D3mos3MO
We need more psychological evaluation of those who buy assault rifles.
@9JYDBDDRepublican3mos3MO
horrible its a parade for a football game and people need to chill
@9JY36CCRepublican3mos3MO
It's sad people get mad over a football game.
